Sunga Sophie Kim is a Partner at L2 Iterative Ventures. She is a pioneering figure in Korea's crypto industry with a proven track record as a successful exited founder. She began her career in the cryptocurrency sector at Korea's first Bitcoin exchange, Korbit, in 2015. Leveraging her deep understanding of digital assets, Sophie went on to found Hanbitco, a crypto exchange that became one of the first in Korea to obtain a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from the Korean government in 2021.
Prior to founding Hanbitco, Sophie was the Managing Director at ELJOVI ST, the digital asset management division of a Swiss family office. During her five-year tenure, she managed the liquid fund, demonstrating her expertise in digital asset management and investment strategies.
Sophie has also played a significant role in shaping the blockchain ecosystem in Korea. As the Chairwoman of the Exchange Committee at the Korea Blockchain Association for three years, she led various initiatives to advance the industry’s regulatory framework. Moreover, as a Co-Founder of BTCON, a prominent Bitcoin conference in Korea, she has been instrumental in fostering dialogue and growth within the community.
